Jesus true God and true man

Jesus is recognized as the true god and true man, as established by the dogma of the two natures during the Council of Chalcedon, that is, an ecumenical council held on the dates of October 8 and November 1, 451 AD

Jesus in the holy scriptures

Jesus is called by God, as the true God and Savior, therefore, it can be appreciated in the sacred scriptures in Titus 2:13; 2 Peter 2: 1, I John 5:20, his essence is eternal, as well as that of God the Father, as evidenced in John 1: 1, Micah 5: 2.

In the sacred scriptures it is evidenced in Matthew 3:17, giving faith that Jesus is the true Son of God, at the time of Jesus' baptism, a voice was heard that came from heaven exclaiming: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am pleased ”.

Likewise, it occurred during the transfiguration as evidenced in Matthew 17: 5, the Father emphasized that Jesus is the Son of God, pointing out that He must be heard.

In John 6:44 and 14: 6, pray the words exclaimed by Jesus: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me brings him" and "No one comes to the Father except through me", they mention that God, the Father and God the Son possess the same sublime order and authority.

In the sacred scriptures it can be appreciated in John 10:30 of how the true God, Jesus, could affirm "I and the Father are one", he spoke in a simple way with the same nature of the Father.

Many verses in the bible mention Jesus as the true man, as it appears in Hebrews 4:15.

Other bible verses

You can also appreciate other verses of the Bible where it is affirmed and approved that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, let's see which ones they refer to:

  • Luke 24:52, the way the Apostles acted after the ascension: "They, after having worshiped 'Jesus Christ' returned."
  • John 1:18, “No one ever saw God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.
  • John 20:28, what was exclaimed by the Apostle Thomas after having seen the Risen One: "My Lord, and my God!"
  • Col. 2: 9, the confession of the nature of Christ in the hymn: "In him dwells bodily all the fullness of the Godhead."
  • John 5:20, where John gives the testimony: “And we are in the true one, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
  • 1 Timothy 3:16: "God was manifested in the flesh."

Jesus birth

When Jesus came into the world, his life began, because He had already been together with the Father many before, as can be seen in John 1: 1, however, with the incarnation of the verb his humanity began.

Once he participated in human nature, he was subjected to everything that a man experiences through his earthly existence, from the process of being born, developing, growing, learning, feeling hunger, pain, sleep, just as he was tempted and attacked by the demon.

All these experiences he lived in his own flesh during his tenure as a man, but not as God. It is appreciated in Timothy 1 2:15, that all these experiences were necessary for Jesus Christ to live them, because in his condition as a man he acted as the only mediator, before his father, God our savior, because a man does not have the power to save the world.

What does true God and true man mean?

When we begin the prayer of the apostles with “I believe… in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; that he was conceived by the work and grace of the Holy Spirit, and was born of the Virgin Mary ”.

It is when we begin to deepen its content, it is a reality that is shown before our faith through the self-revelation of God in Jesus Christ, and because this as another truth that has been manifested, it can only be received through absolute faith.

Jesus, indeed, longed for his disciples and those who heard him to come alone to discover that the Son of man was also the true Son of God. This can be seen in the profession of Simon Peter, when he made it near Caesarea Philippi.

It is when Jesus begins to ask the Apostles questions and it is when Peter deduces the clear recognition of his sublime identity, confirming his testimony and calls him "blessed are you", because it is not the flesh or the blood who has revealed it to you, but my Father ”, this passage of the bible is found in Matthew 16,17:11,27. It is the Father who bears the testimony of the Son, because only He knows the Son, it can be seen in Matthew XNUMX:XNUMX.

You can see in the Gospels Jesus Christ who receives adoration, being an act that only God can receive, just as it can be observed venerating his Father.

It is also observed forgiving sins, expelling evil spirits products of the devil, healing sick people, raising the dead, dominating the wind and the sea.

However, it is also shown that he cries, suffers adversity and agonies, mistreatment as if he were the loneliest man that existed in humanity. All these aspects are taught in the sacred scriptures, the faithful receive all these experiences lived by Jesus.

Certainly for the natural human being, it is difficult for him to understand the truth, he only understands it when the Holy Spirit touches him and reveals it to him in his heart, that is when he is accepted.

In the sacred scriptures, the teaching appears that, to reach God the Father, there is only one way, and the way is through his Son Jesus Christ, however, to recognize that Jesus is the Lord, owner and sovereign of the universe, it is necessary to be enlightened by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
